Dubai has been long recognised as a regional superpower that has pioneered the path to luxury and innovation, with its infrastructure and modern day marvels. As the city continues to expand and its population growth increases, the need for a transportation system that can take on the city’s large scale and complex movement of passengers and goods has led to the introduction of a reliable and efficient public transport system for Dubai.
The Dubai transport system is modern and runs on an advanced on-ground and elevated rail system which covers the city from end to end. The main feature of this system is the Dubai Metro service, the world’s longest driverless train system. There are over 75 kilometers of metro rail, two tunneled and two elevated tracks, and it connects several residential and commercial hubs, shopping malls, and tourist destinations.
The Dubai Metro has been upgraded to support all major debit/credit cards with contactless payments. Furthermore, passengers also have the option to travel and buy tickets using the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) Unified Automated Fare Collection System (UAFC). Moreover, there are also other ways of travelling to explore Dubai with the distributed taxi fleet, public buses, and the water buses, all of which are managed by the RTA.
In addition to the public transportation system, Dubai also has a wealth of private services such as rental cars, auto-rickshaws and apps that have made trips to, around and across the City an effortless process. With the introduction of uber and Careem, travelling in the city is even easier.
In conclusion, it is safe to say that Dubai has embraced technology and innovation with the introduction of its world-class transportation system. The RTA is working hard to ensure that the system runs without any hiccups and helps the citizens of Dubai enjoy their trips.
