Dubai has a reputation for being an oasis for its desert location. What many people may not realize is that the Dubai climate is actually subtropical, making it a great place to enjoy year-round warm weather.
From late November to early March is usually considered the best time to visit Dubai, as temperatures reach their peak in these months. Temperatures range from mid-70s to the 90s Fahrenheit (low-20s to the mid-30s Celsius), and rainfall is minimal, making for a hot and sunny trip. In February, temperatures will reach an average high of 77°F (25°C), making it a comfortable time to enjoy the sites of Dubai and its desert surroundings. Even during the summer months, temperatures rarely reach intolerable levels, typically falling between the mid-80s and low-100s Fahrenheit (the low-30s to low-40s Celsius). A cool sea breeze can also help to temper the heat.
Summer months in Dubai may be hot and dry, but they’re also the best time of year to explore the city’s many beaches—from Jumeirah Beach to the Palm Jumeirah beach strip, there is plenty of shoreline to explore. The city also offers plenty of outdoor entertainment, including a Water Park and amusement park as well as boat tours of the creek. More shopping can be found in the several souks down at Deira, including the Gold Souk and Spices Souk.
The winter months in Dubai can be cold, with temperatures rarely going below 54°F (12°C). December and January are some of the most pleasant months though, and visitors can seek respite in a hot tub or soak up the city’s hospitality in a warm local café. Dubai Mall, with its luxurious shops and a skating rink, is a popular choice. On the ski-hill at the Mall of the Emirates, you’ll find one of the largest indoor ski slopes in the world.
No matter what time of year you decide to visit Dubai, be sure to pack your sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. The heat in Dubai is strong and can take some getting used to. But, with its renowned hospitality and stunning desert landscape, it’s easy to find plenty of ways to enjoy Dubai in all its year-round splendor.
