If you live in Dubai or plan on visiting and want to navigate the city streets with ease, then you need to understand how to read the Dubai metro map. This map can be found on the Dubai Metro website and in most tourist brochures, so you don’t even need to buy one! Here is a guide to help you make sense of the map.
First, identify the different lines on the map. Dubai Metro consists of two lines: the Red and Green Line. This can be identified by the colour code on the map. The Red Line runs along Sheikh Zayed Road and the Green Line runs along Al Ittihad Road.
Second, have a look at the different stations. There are twenty-nine on the Red Line and twenty-one on the Green Line. Each station is represented by a letter and a number. These numbers indicate the order of the station starting from the first number being the nearest to the city centre and the last number being the farthest away.
The last step is to identify the direction of each line. On the metro map, you’ll notice an arrow pointing either towards Al RashiDIYa or Jebel Ali. This indicates the direction of the line. For example, if you see an arrow pointing towards Al Rashidiya then you’re heading in the direction of Al Rashidiya station.
Now that you know how to read the Dubai metro map, you can confidently plan your journey around the city. By identifying the different lines, stations, and direction of the line, you’ll be able to travel with ease!
