Ramadan In Dubai

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, many are excited to take part in the festivities in Dubai. A major global hub for business and tourism, Ramadan in Dubai is known to be quite an experience.

The mainstay of Ramadan in Dubai are the fasting hours, when Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other activities from sunrise to sunset. During this period there is an explosion of activity in the city, from early morning Iftar (the breaking of the fast) to the many late-night services and activities that can be experienced during this time.

As the holy month commences, the air of festivity is thick and the city is illuminated with light decorations and ornate displays. Most malls, restaurants and entertainment centers in Dubai remain open during Ramadan and partake in the celebrations. Across the city, there are pop-up tents, live entertainment, art installations, shopping and even food-tasting experiences that locals and tourists can enjoy during this time.

During Iftar and Suhoor (the pre-dawn meal) there is no shortage of delicious traditional dishes in Dubai, from delicious wood-fired breads like ‘khubz’ to exotic Middle Eastern-style salads and treats. There are also plenty of opportunities to enjoy a wide array of international cuisines and make the most of your Ramadan experience.

The warmth and hospitality during Ramadan is a feeling distinctive to Dubai. From the locals to visitors, everyone is welcome and celebrated. If attending an Iftar, it’s customary to gift a sweet trinket or something meaningful to your loved ones in the spirit of the holiday.

When the fasting period ends, the city comes alive with the long-awaited Eid celebrations. From parades to family gatherings and fireworks, there’s something for everyone. Neighbourhoods often decorated with lights and performances, while special events and concerts draw huge crowds of revellers.

No matter what your religion, Ramadan in Dubai is a special and unique experience that should definitely be on your bucket list. It’s a time of spiritual rejuvenation and feasting, a time to give and share, and a time where positivity and goodwill reign supreme.
