Dubai's Education System And Policies
Dubai has a well-developed education system with policies and initiatives that create the best learning environment for students. From world-class universities and technical schools to global study abroad initiatives, the Emirate of Dubai continues to take leaps and bounds in crafting its ideal learning environment.
The Dubai education system is divided into four levels: primary, secondary, higher and tertiary. Primary and secondary schools are typically provided free of charge, or at a low-cost, by the government. This ensures access for all members of the community. The curriculum is designed to nurture a variety of skills, from reading and writing to science and mathematics to technology, art, music and sports. Arabic and Islamic studies are woven into the curriculum, as the UAE has Islam as its foundational faith.
A number of higher educational institutions can be found in Dubai, offering everything from the traditional university degree to diplomas and technical certifications. سThere are a large number of universities offering undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate studies. All universities are accredited by the UAE’s Ministry of Education, or MoE.
Dubai is also home to the Global academic Foundation, a program that gives gifted students from around the world the chance to study abroad at a university or college in the UAE. This initiative gives international students the chance to further their studies in Dubai and gain experience in an international environment while learning from experienced faculty.
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) is the education regulator of Dubai and was established in 2007. The KHDA continues to work to ensure a world-class education is provided to all students in Dubai, and has put in place a number of initiatives including the ‘School Ratings System’ and the ‘Student Progress Monitor’.
